Browsing the internet on your television

Many people now have lcd/plasma televisions.
It is very easy to configure your television as a monitor for your computer.
First, check your television for available ports. Many new televisions have a VGA port and HDMI ports. If your television has a VGA port then you can simply purchase a VGA cable from the internet (www.tigerdirect.com) and use it to send your computers video output to your television.
If your television does not have a VGA port then it should have an HDMI port. If you plan to use an HDMI port on your television, you will need to purchase a HDMI card for your pc...this can also be found on (www.tigerdirect.com). Once you purchase the HDMI card, you will need to install it in your pc and use an HDMI cable to send the output from your pc to your television.
Second, you will ideally want to purchase a wireless keyboard so you can sit comfortably on your couch while browsing the internet. Many infrared keyboards are available but these do NOT offer the range desired when using your television as a monitor. I recommend purchasing a wireless keyboard that uses bluetooth technology or WI-FI. Both of these offer the range desired...typically over 30 feet. I use a bluetooth wireless keyboard myself and I can walk out my front door (about 25 feet away) and still send commands to my computer. Try this out sometime and feel free to contact me with any questions.
