Transfer pictures from your Iphone to your computer

After taking many pictures on your Iphone, you may want to transfer the files to your computer. Itunes does this but doesn't allow you to really do much with them.

Here is the easy way to do it:

- Use your usb cable to connect your Iphone to your computer.
- Once windows detects it, simply open up My Computer in windows and you should see a camera icon. The camera icon is your Iphone.
- Open up the camera icon and you can copy all your photos to your computer.

Make an icon for the Iphone/itouch

These are instructions for adding a custom image for your website. Basically, when a iphone/itouch user adds your website to the Home Screen they will see a custom image of your website rather then a screenshot of your homepage.

This is assuming you know html….

Here we go:

First: You will want to create your custom image and be sure its size is 57 x 57. You can resize your image with Adobe Photoshop or even Microsoft Paint.

Second: Save your custom image as: apple-touch-icon.png

Third: Upload your image via FTP to the root directory of your website. You can not place this in an images folder…it must be placed in the root directory.

All done.

Now when you or anyone else adds your webpage to the Home Screen on their iphone/itouch, they will see your custom photo.

Recover files from dead computer

There is a convenient tool available that allows anyone with basic computer skills to recover files from a computer that no longer boots into windows. If your computer is giving you errors and not booting into windows, simply follow these instructions.
Find a copy of ERD (emergency recovery disk) commander and be sure it is on a bootable cd/dvd.
Boot your faulty computer up and be sure to boot into your cdrom drive. This can typically be done by simply selecting "boot options" by pressing f2,f8, etc during the first few seconds. ERD will take about 10 minutes to boot completely and if you receive an error that networking could not be configure...simply press ok and move on. Once booted into ERD commander you will be in a Windows like setting and you can dig through the menus to find the files on your old drive.

Good luck

Mount your television

Say you recently purchased a new LCD or Plasma TV set. You could spend another 300 dollars for a nifty looking television stand or you could spend less by mounting your television on the wall.
Mounting your television is not as complicated as some would think.
Step one: Make sure you have wood studs, brick wall, or even metal studs to mount to. You could also use toggle bolts to attach to plain drywall but this can be risky.
Step two: Find a mounting kit that will hold your television size and weight.
Step three: Determine where you would like to mount your television and be sure to have an electrical outlet relocated to provide the television with power and also fish any lines needed (component, HDMI, Coaxial) for your devices.
Step four: Attach your wall mount kit with multiple screws, bolts, or toggle bolts.
Step five: Attach the brackets for the television to the back of your television set.
Step six: Hang your television on the wall and connect all the cables.

This is a basic rundown and in the future I hope to post a video tutorial for you.
If you do not have the time to do this yourself, simply contact
Maxtel.

Browsing the internet on your television

Many people now have lcd/plasma televisions.
It is very easy to configure your television as a monitor for your computer.
First, check your television for available ports. Many new televisions have a VGA port and HDMI ports. If your television has a VGA port then you can simply purchase a VGA cable from the internet (www.tigerdirect.com) and use it to send your computers video output to your television.
If your television does not have a VGA port then it should have an HDMI port. If you plan to use an HDMI port on your television, you will need to purchase a HDMI card for your pc...this can also be found on (www.tigerdirect.com). Once you purchase the HDMI card, you will need to install it in your pc and use an HDMI cable to send the output from your pc to your television.
Second, you will ideally want to purchase a wireless keyboard so you can sit comfortably on your couch while browsing the internet. Many infrared keyboards are available but these do NOT offer the range desired when using your television as a monitor. I recommend purchasing a wireless keyboard that uses bluetooth technology or WI-FI. Both of these offer the range desired...typically over 30 feet. I use a bluetooth wireless keyboard myself and I can walk out my front door (about 25 feet away) and still send commands to my computer. Try this out sometime and feel free to contact me with any questions.
